Why join Quire?

Picture
We like to think that by joining Quire, you aren't just becoming part of a singing group - you're joining a family. With its LGBT community roots, Quire has always sought to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere so that anyone can find an avenue to explore their musical side and of course make new friends.Quire stages at least one major concert performance each year, so you will need to be able to commit to a rehearsal schedule. But all that hard work leads to a wonderful sense of achievement when it all comes together on show night!

And Quire is a very social group too - we organise beach parties, dinners and nights out throughout the year for members and their partners. We also hold a teambuilding residential weekend each year.

How do I join Quire?

If you'd like to join the Quire family, we would love to hear from you!

Quire holds at least one Recruitment Event each year (our most recent was in September 2019).

The date of our next recruitment will be publicised on our Facebook page - so Like it now if you haven't already! Please email us on info@quire.org.uk with any questions and we'll get back to you.

The Recruitment Events involve a simple sound check for potential new members which our musical director, Leanne McCorry, conducts on a 1-1 basis throughout the evening.

The events also provide an opportunity to meet the members of QUIRE Belfast, who talk about what being a member involves and what we all get out of it!

When do rehearsals take place?

Quire's schedule generally follows the school year, i.e. with a summer break. Rehearsals take place weekly on Wednesday evenings, however additional rehearsals (for example coming up to a performance) may occasionally be necessary. These will be announced in advance.

Quire members are expected to spend some time practising between rehearsals.

Is there a membership fee?

To help cover our running costs Quire members pay a small membership fee, either in full at the start of the year, or by a monthly standing order.

There is a concessionary rate available. Quire's treasurer will be happy to provide further details when you join.

Any questions?

If you've any further questions, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you!
